About Me:

Education

I have an Honours Double Major in Political Science and Economics at Huron University College in 2021. I then went on to get my Masters of the Arts in Political Science at Western University in 2022. I am currently a PhD Candidate at Western University on track to complete my doctoral degree by the Spring of 2026..

Research portfolio

I am a PhD Candidate at Western University where I have developed my dissertation work, broader research agenda, undergone extensive methodological training, and gained valuable experience as a project coordinator at The Body Politics Lab. I am also an experienced instructor and undergraduate research mentor.

I have received in-depth methodological training at Western University. I am well versed in statistical methods including linear regression, maximum likelihood estimation with generalized linear models, time-series cross sectional analysis, Bayesian statistics, text analysis with dictionaries and generative pre-trained transformers (GPTs), and experimental methods.

My dissertation research encompasses a comprehensive account of sport attachment’s affect on individuals’ identity and how sport can act as a powerful lifestyle aspect that effects adult socialization and policy attitudes. Furthermore, my research agenda extends to how sports participation can serve as an aspect of youth socialization that can develop leadership skills that can promote political participation. Finally, my research agenda extends to collaborative political psychology projects from studies conducted by The Body Politics Lab and Social Behaviour Lab centring on the effects of emotional regulation on prejudicial attitudes and emotional responses to political and non-political discussions.

One area I hope to focus on next is the effects of legalized sports gambling in Canada. Public opinion on legalized sports gambling and the regulation of sports gambling companies and their marketing strategies is understudied. Finally, I am interested in investigating the ways sport fandom identity can act as a symbol of polarization between urban and rural identity.
